I have adopted a lovebird about 6 months ago, he is quite vocal and can scream constantly .. how do I bond with him and keep him happy. At the moment he is in his cage, however I would like to get to the point where i can let him out.

I play music to him from youtube, i talk to him, gave him toys ect.

Someone told me when he starts screaming to cover the cage until he stops that way he will learn. But I heard this can mess up their natural daylight cycle. I am in the UK, and going into autumn, its getting darker earlier will this effect him? Could it be the reason he being moody ?

Any suggestions on what I can do ?

Hi, and welcome to the Avenue.
So others can help you, do you have any idea how old your bird is?
How often do you give him out of cage time?
The way your post reads is that he hasn't been out of his cage in 6 months, since you got him?
That alone could be a reason for his constant screaming.
You covering him as "punishment" for screaming would not be advisable for any bird.
What kind if diet is he on?
