Hello Bird Lovers!! I have been raising exotic parrots for over 30 years. Was President of Tri Counties Bird Club in California for many years. I have a problem that I need your help . I just purchased a Cal Cage from Craigslist. It is the San Francisco Model CC106. It is a huge cage and I love it. We are now trying to put it together and we cannot figure out how to get the tray under the grill to slide out. Does anyone out there own a cage from CC that still has a paper that show how to attach the catch try so it slides out? Would appreciate the info. If anyone is having trouble breeding Greys or Macaws shoot me a message. I will help if I can.

Welcome to the Avenue!

I tried to search to see if I could find a manual for that cage online but no luck :(

Welcome! I bought a Cal Cage from FB marketplace but it was already assembled. So I don't have instructions. Would taking pictures of mine assembled help at all?

I'm sure we could all figure it out if you took pictures of what you have. I've helped build cages(not your brand) in the bird store and they never have instructions lol.

I have 3 California Cages. 2 of the older original California Cage models & one of the Cal Premium Company brands.

In the front of the cage there are 2 bars below the seed skirt. The seed skirt attaches to the top bar. The tray slides in along the lowest bar. There is flat metal on each side of the cage & back the tray rests on. It should only slide in from the front. The tray should have a lip on the front. It could be stuck or maybe someone stuck it in backwards on in the wrong place. If it was inserted backwards or in the wrong place you may have to force it out.

The red arrow is the tray. It slides in along the lowest bar.

Love my cal cage. Wish they'd come back to the market.

I had trouble with mine too. It's an old cage, though, so I assumed it was just wear and tear causing the trouble. I had to rock it a little laterally, find the sweet spot.

Ps: welcome!
