We adopted our JoJo a month ago. His elderly dad had been ill for months and pet sitters had been caring for JoJo and his dog brother in his absence. The pet sitter friend came to us - knowing we are a sucker for all animals lol!

He has been vetted and is healthy although on meds for his plucking problem from the stress of his dad's absence and relocation.

Looking forward to learning more from this group.

PS the picture is from this past Sunday - his first venture outside his cage. After 3 hours he finally agreed to “step up” and let me return him to cage. We know little about his previous training but per the avian vet he cannot fly due to previous scar tissue etc.

Welcome!

We had zero bird experience and took in 2 blue front amazons, both wild caught, both Male.

It's all doable, just read and learn.

Welcome, and thank you for taking JoJo in. Sounds like he's had a stressful time. I hope with more stability and your care, he'll flourish.

Thankyou for being a soft place for him to land!! He's beautiful but looks like he's been through a lot. I feel for him. I had a rescue senior moluccan cockatoo named Zane that self mutilated. In a couple days it will 2 years since he passed. I went through a lot different kinds of collars with him. There fabric collars out there that a more comfortable but they don't always work for every bird. If you have anything questions feel free to ask, I'll answer the best as I can. Best of luck with him!!!
