We lost a good hen about a month ago. She had gone broody, and I couldn't find the nest, but something found her.
Was at the neighbor's house to get a rundown on caring for his livestock while he is away this week, and he had the cutest tiny, tiny! little bantam rooster. He asked me if I wanted it. Yeah, but he needs a friend. I wasn't putting him in alone with my big girls - they are easy going, but he would still be the odd one out. Neighbor was able to get a hen friend of the same breed (or at least another bantam - not sure) for him.
They are housed in a shady, old empty rabbit walk-in house for now. I'll let them out in a few days when they are more *at home.*
Sorry, no ability to post pics at least for another week. I don't keep a cell phone, and BF is out of town.
