Decided to go ahead and make a profile since I’ve been reading so many threads! I figured It would be more informative to reach out for direct advice.

I just rescued three new babies.
Male Rainbow Lorikeet
Male Senegal Parrot
Female GCC

All assumed to be around 6-7 months old and look to be in decent shape considering they have all been kept in a medium size cage all TOGETHER and we’re all given access to the same food.(which makes me worried for the Lori considering the seed). There is some feathers missing and dull coloration. I went ahead and made them an appointment with a specialist but cannot get them in till next monday. I have read up extensively on each of the breeds and their needs but any extra information would be great. The GCC is more willing to be handled but I’m obviously giving them awhile to settle in and separated them each into their own room.

If anyone has anything they would like to share about their experience with rescues as this is my first time not buying from a respected breeder or about the breeds in general it would be very appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum! So nice of you to help these birdies. My 'too came from a rescue. I think rescues really are just like other birds in many ways. Some are quick to adapt. Some need more time, etc. Do you think these three are bonded now or was it just forced upon them?

The boys were bullying the GCC because she is MUCH smaller than them, she seems very relieved to be on her own next to my bed and has even been cuddling with me. The Lori and the Senegal are having a harder time being apart to the point I’m almost thinking about letting them be together because them seem very bonded and I have a LARGE macaw cage that would allow enough room. I brought the Lori into the Senegal’s room, he immediately left me to go to him and they just sat together on a perch. I’m thinking watch their activity very closely together and then deciding but I’m not sure?

It sounds like they might be. Can you for now put their cages beside each other and see how they do? (I'm assuming they're in separate cages currently?) And poor little GCC. I bet she's very happy to be with you. Were they from a breeder? Hoarder? Seems odd to have that mix of young birds together.

Yes that’s a great idea both cages have wheels so they’re mobile. Just did that now and they’re just singing softly to each other, pretty cute! And yes she really did take just a huge breath, so much going on for such a little bird... definitely a hoarding situation. There were three other birds in with mine(BCC, male GCC and a Sun conure) that someone else picked up with me. they still have macaws.... working on getting those poor babies out now. They had THREE together in one normal size macaw cage and one looked absolutely awful.

Oh my. How awful. It's so wonderful that most are out and hopefully you can get the macaws out soon too. Thank you for helping them.

I agree wholeheartedly w/ Sunnysmom, Thank you so much for adopting & saving these guys/girls! It sound like th e people that were trying to help them were unknowingly hurting them. Those poor McCaws!

I don't know much about the breeds other then it's an unusual mix. Never put in 1 cage. That poor underling. I'm glad she finding comfort w/ you.

I do know this for sure. There are some very very bird smart people here. If you have a question ask or use the word search area (magnifying glass - upper right on toolbar).

Thank you! Konsuela is the green cheek, Ignacio(nacho) is the Lori, and Carlos is the Senegal! And I managed to convince them to give me the baby conures they’re trying to hand feed.. about to make a new thread to get as much info as possible before picking them up tomorrow

Would also like to say that they’re all doing great! The conure is my new little baby and the boys have both stepped up for me with no biting!
