I'm planning on buying a Linnie after my first exam tomorrow. They're being sold for $100 at my local pet store.
I was wondering if this Linnie looks healthy enough for me to bring home!
I see no mucus or any crust around the nose and eyes are very clear. He is only 10 - 11 weeks old. image.jpeg

Adorable! I love their tiny beaks. It can be hard to tell a bird's health from a photo but he looks okay to me.

I've always loved linnies for the funny little "poit, poit, poit" noises they make and for the fact that they hang upside down like bats to be misted for a bath ... apart from the fact that they are beautiful and look good enough to eat. :xflove::xflove::xflove:

No complaints here. I have two one male and one female. At that price I would get two! Linnies thrive with a cage mate more than if a single bird. Most pet stores will let you interact with a bird. My birds will not let me touch them which is not unusual for this species. Get a nice big flight cage because they love to climb.

As a comparison I paid $200. each. That seems to be the price from breeders in my area. Some are $300.

Falling in love with my little Levi (yes, I've named him), he's a very good eater and is always whistling, chirping and muttering some linnie talk. I do have to spray perches every now and again so that he can drink off of them.
I'm going to start hand-taming tonight and get him use to my hands so that I can start to teach him to drink from his bowl.

Do you know what he drank from at the pet store? Maybe he's used to a water bottle?

What do you mean by having to spray perches so he can drink from them?

I like Levi.

Have you contacted the petshop to see how he was given water?

Use millet or find some treat he loves & offer it to him by hand to try to teach him hands are good.
Can he get to his water bowl easily? Make sure there are perches available so he can have access to it.
Is he flighted?

He's such a sweet boy! So cute.
Have you tried offering a water bottle(preferably glass) in his cage?
Some birds are raised on them, and that might be why he's not drinking.
