Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this thread, but I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts.
I have one cockatiel, and I work 8 hours everyday. I've only had a full time job for about a year now, so Burt used to be out much more often. My current job is flexible so I may only work 7 hours before I'm home to take Burt out, and I do have plenty of work from home opportunities where he can still come out during the day.
I just received a new job offer with the same hours, but it's about a 40 minute commute, so I'd be getting home an hour later everyday. A big part of my uncertainty for taking this job is because I don't want Burt feeling lonely.

My question is, how long do you all leave your birds at home alone during the week?

Back in the day (2008) when we only had Baby our teil, he was alone for an average of 6 hours a day. We played different thing for him on the radio so he would feel like he had humans around. We even bought a cd that had bird calls on it for him. He seemed to do quite well with the radio cd etc. The other thing we did was place him by a window that he could see outside and watch the wildlife. Rabbits, squirrels birds etc. Of course he also had lots of toys to entertain himself. He liked "foot toys". Hope this helps
