Checking out the neighborhood
Hi everyone and welcome from Lake Havasu City, AZ!
We just came across this cool place today and thought we'd introduce our boy Yogi!
Yogi is an Umbrella Cockatoo who's been with us since he was about a year old in 1987.........so yes that would make him about 34 years old.
We never had any children (Except him) and he's always had his own room, and even has his own spot in our remodeled to suit him Class A motorhome when we go in the road.
He's pretty set in his ways, as many of you probably know and of course, has to be involved in anything out of the ordinary around the house.
He's super comfortable around people and wants to climb on pretty much anyone and give them a kiss.
He pretty much goes to bed, meaning we put him to bed in his room, at about the same time every night, although this changes with the seasons and wants to get up when he hears us moving around in the morning. All in all it's a pleasure to have him around and now that we're traveling in the RV more he seems pretty happy to come along. He likes to sit on the wife's shoulder while driving and then on top of his cage or hanging with one of us if we're inside. If we're up late and watching TV we roll him into the bedroom and then when we go to bed he goes in the living room until we get up in the morning.
One of the neatest thing about our little guy is that my wife was able to potty train him well over 30 years ago and as a rule, he will come over and somehow let us know he needs to go (kiss or being a bit of a pest) until we take him over a toilet or trash can and say the "Magic Word" (Poop). When he's in his cage he will go without issue but normally when he's out he is very good.......in the RV he will also go over a towel if we're heading down the road after letting us know he's gotta go on command.
We really love our little man but now that we are getting to be 60ish and he's probably still got at least 40 more years to go...........looks like we gotta live a long time
Looking forward to hanging out with you guys (virtually).
