Hey guys! Nervous new bird parent here (going to get my baby this weekend!), and I'm hoping to get some feedback on my cage setup!

I can't tell if this is okay amount of toys, not enough toys, or too much toys (overstimulating)... I also have a whole play area prepared, so this wouldn't be the only area for the lil guy.

It’s a lovely sized cage the perches dowels it probably came with aren’t they best for their feet so eventually you might want to swap them for natural perches

I have the toy you have with woven ball in middle if I was you I would cut the bottom rope bits off (it was easy to do ) as rope fibre depending on your bird lf they chew them aren’t good and keep an eye on rope perch mine are fine with them some aren’t any signs of being chewed remove

I don’t know where you are in world maybe if you share your location people can help with toys as most store bought ones aren’t brilliant

flat perches are a favourite of mine foraging toys are a definite hit and keep them entertained while I am at work
So you might want to add some of those

balsa sola and 1/2inch pine are a favourite too with my green cheeks foot’s toys

Looks really good though one lucky little bird

I'm in Eastern Canada! I have a lot of forest around me so I'm absolutely working on bringing in natural branches and debarking them and making them bird-safe and turning them into perches and toys and things, but i'm not very good yet. I made him the lil rope ladder that's in the lower middle! I have a trip to the dollar store planned to get some more lil bits and bobs to make toys with, too. The foraging toys I saw in the store were ridiculously priced, so i'll be looking at what I can make myself there too. I'll see what I can do with the dangly bits on the end of the toy you mentionned! Thank you so much!

I’d move all them dowels and maybe only keep one in a lower area and I’d be putting in natural perches- very important for feet, leg and in some cases beak health.

I can’t really work out what kind of toys you have there but as your little one settles in they’re likely going to need more to do while in the cage. A variety of materials is a good idea as you’ll get to see what textures your bird is drawn to.
I can only see one dish (pic gets blurry for me so can’t enlarge) but I can’t see a perch- there may be one there, idk. You want perches next to or in front of all food dishes.

Ohhhh it’s Friday here (Aus) so you don’t have much longer to wait till you get your little one…. Please share pics when your cutie comes home :)

I am new GCC owner as well, I am looking to get a white cage but want to go a little larger. Can i ask the size of your cage or where you got it?

Ahh I remember the excitement and nervousness around getting my first bird- which was also a GCC! 6 years passed and it still feels like I brought her home yesterday! They're great birds and you will be glad you got one! Feel free to come back and ask any questions about ownership if you have any! AA is a great forum for learning!

Your cage size looks good! As for perches, I agree with the other replies here. Natural and rope perches are better! You want a variety of different perches! Big, small, flat, rope, wood, rock, etc! It helps to prevent health issues with their feet in the future.

As for toys, I always go more over less LOL- my GCC is super active! So I'd go more toys personally! There are several great toy shops even here on AA! Get all different varieties of toys, though being cautious of long cotton fibers, jingle bells, binder rings, hooks, etc.

Also you might already know this, though a common trap that new small bird owners fall into is buying "Happy Huts" or other fabric tunnels/tents. These can cause hormonal issues and increased nippiness especially in GCCs so when you're looking for new accessories- avoid those!
