A new gas range will be delivered in 2 weeks (no self-cleaning option in it).
What is the procedure to make it safe for birds?
I read somewhere that you need to run the oven for 10 hrs with no birds in the house.
If this is correct, what temp should the oven be on?
Thank you.

I believe I ran mine for about 2 hours at 450 to burn everything off. I took my bird for a ride while hubby stayed with the oven. Turn on vent fans and open windows.

We ran ours for about 7 or 8 hours at it's highest temp. I stayed out in the car (in the AC, since it was too hot for the bird) with Chirp and Fuzzgig. It took another couple hours for the smell to clear out, then I was able to bring them back in the house.

Update: I ran our new oven for almost 10 hrs (at intervals) to be safe. The smell was very bad for at least 5 hrs.
I brought my birds back home after 2 days, which they spent with their birdsitter. I used the oven twice now and my birds did fine.
Thanks again for your help.
