New Finches

Brought home a pair of Lady Gouldian Finches today! I've named them Clarice and Lecter. They are in awe of their new cage and most of their time so far has been spent looking around at how big it is compared to their previous home. They've already started singing together so I take that as a good sign

It doesn't look like either of them have eaten yet and I brought them home about 11am and it's 9pm right now. They're bowl is filled to the top with seed they're used to. Is it normal for finches to be nervous to eat right away?

Yes she is. She has claimed the swing for herself

I was thinking that as well. I'm hoping after getting some sleep they'll be feeling more adventurous to eat

At the pet shop, they had their food and water in little bowls on the floor of their cage. In their cage now I have their food in the little food holders, but it's so low to the ground that it touches the cage floor. There's a lot in it right now, but I wanted to make sure they see it and it was close for them to get to.

I would love to get some the only problem is the only space in the bird room and my Indian ringneck would scare and make them nervous with his screams.

How are they doing today?

They are doing great today! I didn't see them eat, but when I got home from work I noticed empty seed shells tossed all around!
I had to pull off some fried poop that had been stuck in Clarice's feathers since last night, but she let me easily grab her and didn't struggle while I pulled it off. They've been very active and vocal, so I think they're really liking their new home
