This is what I found this morning:
20200728_071317.jpg 20200728_071736.jpg

I am freaking out just a bit.
The bleeding has stopped completely. I cannot see exactly where the blood is from (unfortunately Loki isn't hand tame, won't let me grab him).
He is acting completely normal, usual morning chirp (hello), normal weight (394g), active, alert, apetite ok, he's preening himself currently.
The usual morning banter:

For perspective, the blood drop is on his second flight;

Here comes the moral support request;
Due to COVID his go to emergency vet is closed. The worst part is I cannot go to my chosen vet in Ljubljana legally (neighbouring country, need covid negative test to cross the border first :banghead:)

If need be ( the bleeding resumes) I will take him to Zagreb. (Not too keen on it, the vets aren't good)

Any advice (on care) but mostly support and good thoughts will ve greatly appreciated.

Could it perhaps be a blood feather? Mabel had one once (which looked awful on her bright yellow feathers!) after a night fright and apart from being a bit off for a few days, she was fine. It had stopped bleeding by the time I got to her.

Maybe if you look around the area he sleeps in you can see if there's any feathers with blood in the shaft?

Thankyou :heart:!
Just please don't tell Loki he needs to be recovering :lol:

(It is mostly me that needs help I think)
Like in the joke;
A vet had an emergency call for a wounded horse. Upon inspection the vet orders the tehnician a 100ml of tranquilizer. The tehnicians protest of the wound not being that much of a problem and is it really necesarry got answered with: "Oh, no. Not for the horse, it is for the owner!"

All I can say is keep an eye on him, also for any signs of irritation. But maybe somebody else with more experience can help out.

I know when mine had their night fright and Mabel's blood feather I was so on edge, I didn't sleep a wink! I ended up going into the bird room and sleeping on the sofa there :laughing2:

Looks to be a blood feather. Hand tame or not if it starts up again you need to be ready. You need some sort of blood stop. Cornstarch would be best and a big towel ( which we don't want to use ).

If they are bleeding bad enough you don't have a ton of time. Throw the towel on him and apply the corn starch holding pressure on the end.
If the feather is being problematic you or your vet could pull it but I always think that is a last resort.

Keep stuff on the ready for a few days. Hopefully it is done.

Thankyou!
I hope you're right!

I've grabbed him before (hi chipped his beak, needed to see if there's blood). Currently we are at a stage when I can sometimes place my palm on his back and very rarely even wrap my thumb and index around his neck.. I'd hate to loose his trust again.
But will defenetly towel him if need be.
Hopefully he won't bleed anymore.

@Macawnutz is right, you know. If it's dangerous for your bird you gotta do what you gotta do. They forgive you pretty quickly (after milking your guilt for as much as they can.)
