you could try a drop or two of liquid decongestant or childrens liquid ibropren. that is what my vet told me to use on my scarlet macaw when I first got him home because he to had a bad cold/ allergy
Good luck

I think you have it really. My vet isnt available til the morning either so I am no help to you :(

I hope he lives, poor baby. I do not see anything else that can be done. Will he take any hand feedings at all? Oatmeal ?

Do you have any Baytril on hand that you can give him and then replace when you get to the vets? Also I would hand feed with formula with a tiny bit of corn syrup or honey in the mix to keep his blood sugar level up. Warmth and perches low, pedylite by syringe for fluids.

Steam and sinus flushes are good. What are you using to flush? Next would be the hospital cage with heat and keep the bird hydrated with 50/50 pedialyte and water. Your vet will take a look at the debris and determine if antibiotics are warranted.

Once the blockage is clear the bird should breathe better.

So what does this mean, no vet treatment because they won't pay?

Tanya,

Do the best you can by giving the antibiotics, nasal flushes, steam, heat, fluids and extra formula. You care is just as good as the vets.

Please keep us posted.
