Hi everyone I am a new bird mom and have purchased a beautiful girl (presume) caique.
She was advertised as a BHC but after doing a bit of research I'm unsure as she hasn't got a black beak and her head is not fully black and her chest is not as white. I understand all birds are not the same but could she possibly be a hybrid mix between a BHC and a WBC.
She is only 6 months old.

Any advice appreciated thank you

Beautiful caique. I think he/she is either a WBC or a hybrid WBC/BHC.

I would say the bird is a hybrid....

and I wonder if she might be related to this (slightly older) caique

Generally speaking, health concerns typically occur between hybrids that the parent species aren't closely related... i.e. some of the macaw hybrids, the large conure x small conure hybrids, conure x macaw hybrids....

Not sure on the following hybrids (would be shocked if NONE had any health issues!)

cockatiel x galah
conure x amazon
amazon x macaw
amazon x pionus
conure x caique
african grey x jardines
lorikeet x king parrot
rosella x australian ringneck (anything besides infertility?)

Of the ones I can think of off of the top of my head...
