Navajo and Zuni Reservations

My wife had to make a trip up to the Navajo reservation to turn in a proposal for a new Navajo court building. I went along to take pictures. On the way back we swung down through the Zuni reservation. Some of these were taken on the Navajo res, some one the Zuni res.

The weather got nasty on the way home.

Very impressive photos!
Here's a dumb question from a Canadian -
is this located in AZ? and of so, is it far south of Flagstaff? We toured parts of AZ while visiting friends in Scottsdale...such diverse scenery in the areas we saw.

The Navajo Res is most of the North Eastern corner of the AZ., plus up into Utah and over into New Mexico, I think. The bulk of the Zuni Res is just over the border in New Mexico. So all of these photos are actually east of Flagstaff.

We lived on the Navajo reservation in the 1960's as a Public Health doctor and nurse- Brought back memories- great shots- Also check out blue throat macaws on the macaw motorway and go to Bill's video of his macaws free flying at the Towers in Ariz- it's awesome. Also did you know that parrots figure predominently in both Navajo and Hopi mythology? Parrot is one of their dieties and Hopi's have a parrot clan- parrots are often used in their art work- I have lots of Zuni, hopi and navajo jewelry with a parrot motif.
