Pictures Nail filing time

Hello everyone

We never had a problem with Pasha's nails. Because I always file his nail every two days.

There's a song I always sing to him while filing his nails. I think he enjoyed it.





I finally caught my mother's finger and the nail file.

How do you deal with their nails ?

Pasha is so good for you. Tbh I have never tried to do it. He goes to the vets every 2-3 months for nail and beak trim and check-up.
I envy you.

I love that you have made it a regular routine. I trim Walter's when he needs it and he does pretty good but I often have to take a couple of days as he quickly tires of me messing with his feet (or I just towel him when I just have to get it done. Thankfully he doesn't mind getting toweled and as long as I have a nut waiting for when we are done, I am forgiven...

How do you deal with their nails ?

They have a variety of perches designed to file the nails naturally, but it doesn't really work all that well. They get their nails trimmed at the vet once in a while, lol!

Pasha is such a good bird.

I also do this with Burt regularly- he has destroyed so many nail files (while "helping" lol) so we mainly use the metal one I have now. I do Birdies the same way when he is hanging off the wire of the cage- he cant bite me through the wire hehehe

It's great when they've been acclimated and or trained to accept and willingly participate basic husbandry/ care.
The dremmel or hand filling always aroused and produced a hormonal response in my female GW.
Not ideal but better than her being scared/ defense and wish to fly or bite.

I didn't know Burt was the nail file killer.

Pasha is very understanding and calm about this, because since the day he came to me, I did everything to get him used to the nail file.
Fortunately this was successfully.
