I got some more photos. I think it’s a nest with fledgling babies. Maybe that’s why they’re small or I could be bad with size estimates. The parents are excellent flyers.

This little one (pretty sure it’s a baby) seemed proud of flying to the largest tree & back. You can see the internet box they’ve taken over.

Yes, this is in Canada.

I mean it definitely looks like a starling haha. And they love nesting in areas just like that!

I agree about the size being described as "tiny" not fitting a starling.
But short tail and that beak....long and pointy and very yellow!
She also describes "wings tapered and pointy"

"In flight their wings are short and pointed, making them look rather like small, four-pointed stars (and giving them their name)."
I never knew that was the source of the name!

Me either! I thought it was because of all their speckles!

Yep starlings. Younger starlings are more brownish with speckled feathers. FYI: Sadly starlings were imported to the Americas from Europe many years ago & are not native. They have a very strong beak & will kill song birds & others birds. They are a huge threat to Purple Martins. Purple Martins & insect eating birds have no defense as they have soft beaks. Purple Martin landlords hate them.

Thank you! It’s a young Starling family! I can see how they got their name. I like them flying.

Sorry to hear about their nasty nature. :(

I read they’re one of the birds released by someone who wanted every bird mentioned in Shakespeare to be in the Americas…
