Hi you all know Mango has been free flyted for the past 3 yrs of his life and then i
decided to clipp him to give him the other side of life , where he had to depend on me
to get around and i might be able to get housework done as he hated me doing things
while he was up .
I did learn to clip a bird thats always been flited you do it slowly not as it was done
to Mangoall at once lesson learned
Do i regret it yes i did till the last few weeks so many changes in our life his for the
better,
He eats better like never touched vegies pelets well he sure does now , he sits on
my shoulder while i do dishes is much calmer and more demanding,,lol while im on the
computer he sits on the arm of my chair holding my finger,,lol seems much more
content , tonight he had porage with me never even tryed it befor and loved it . hes
had vegiemash every day now for a week and would never try it befor , also has been
eating his pellets that wouldnt touch befor oh for got he did hed toss them out of his
dish,,lol .
So did i acomplish what i wanted more so than i thought am i glad i did it yes i sure am
will i do it again NO , He has seen both sides of life now and will have more choices
to make when hes flyted .
All this came with a price him plucking him self , I am partly to blame as I didnt think
i harnesed him right after his clipping and took him out , he wasnt able to defend him
if he got lose and hadnt ajusted to it , yes a human rushing what she wants not thinking
of the bird , so it dosent mater what you want always please put the bird first
So my advice if thinking about clipping remember your bird has feelings try and think
like a bird , if the bird has been flying clip only 2 off each wing wait a week and take
2 more off do NOT CLIP ALL AT ONCE let the bird adjust to it , spend time after on
ways to help him and make time for the reasons you did it .
I do hope in posting this it helps some in there decision to clip or not to clip
and to do it the right way not as i did .
Mangos flying already he always was a strong flyer and has been deturmaned from
the start he was going to fly,lol his feathers are comming in fst where he pulled
them out and im hoping in a nother week to try harness again IF HIS FLYING
IMPROVES
Sorry this was so long but wanted to share hopping it will help others in there
decisions YES IT SURE HAS BEEN WORTH IT HE HAS HAD AND WILL
CONTINUE TO HAVE A FULL LIFE OF MAKING DECISIONS BUT MANY MORE
CHOICES NOW .
hugsssssssssss doll mango
