I saw Merlie's thread (this one
http://forums.avianavenue.com/feath...g-veggie-mash-documentary-laugh-out-loud.html) the other day and it inspired me to make mash for my flock too. I made some yesterday and here is what it has in it, all of this is put into the food processor:

1 Apple
1 Banana
2 head of broccoli
a gallon bucket filled with fresh plantains (washed)
6 roses (the petals only)
a few handfuls of carrots
cranberries (half a bag)
Blueberries (2 handfuls)
a handful of corn
10 strawberries
2 marigold flowers

Our garden is starting to grow so soon I can add squash, tomatoes, corn, spinach, broccoli, potatoes, peppers and cucumbers.

I washed all these thoroughly, put them into the food processor and then put them in a tupperware container. I am going to make some more today, so it will last a few weeks (going to freeze a bunch of it). I am also going to make birdy bread today too.

Anything else I can/need to add to the mash?

Thanks, Victoria

Wow that looks good! I'm thinking I may need to upgrade from Magic Bullet to true food processor...it takes me too long to get anything looking that well chopped! :) Birdie Bread's on my to-do list today, too.

It took a while for my flock to eat it but yes, now they eat it like crazy. I put it in muffins sometimes too and the cockatiels eat more of it that way than they do when it is just plain mash.

Wow, that is genius that you put flowers in there! Love your recipe (love everyone's recipe, actually). Its on my list of things to do as well for my birds this weekend since I can no longer go to TASC :sad1:

:omg: WOW!!!! That looks GREAT! Not to mention yummy and nutritious :laughing12:
One of the things I plan on doing this weekend is some of this birdie mash. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the birds will eat it. This mash will also come in handy for my veggie eating reptiles. I'm sure they'd enjoy the itty bitty pieces.:cheer:

I think someone should take all the recipes that everyone posts and create a cookbook just for birds. Like I said in another post I have really missed everyone and all the wealth of information that is provided.
