Hi Guys,
I am new to this and thought I would join to say hi and share stories and hopefully get some advice.
I have two Caiques; 1 WBC (male) & 1 BHC (female). I have a certificate for both to confirm the gender but, I think it maybe the other way around...
My Black-Headed Caique (BHC) is 2 and half years old named 'Sweetpea' and my White Bellied Caique (WBC) is called 'Cuckoo' and going to be almost 4.

Sweetpea is very dominant and regurgitates food for Cuckoo quite often so, I am not sure this is normally typical of males or females?
Both are very loud so, will be helpful if someone can give me advice on how to get them to be quieter?

Welcome!
Hi Laurie and thanks for the lovely poem :)
That was Zara who posted, not Laurie. Zara was telling Laurie about this thread as Laurie breeds caiques.

Its normal for adult caiques regurgitate food for their mates. some will even do it for their best friends

Caiques call the flock morning and night to bring the flock together. This is very noisy. If they have something to fight about at this time, like a small piece of their favorite food, this can start a real screaming match. If they are screaming at any other time you can find the cause and remove it.

i.e. I can tell from the posture of the birds in your pic that they're excited.

Leaning the head back to look at you like "WTF"
The red ring round the eye clearly visible
The chest feathers puffed out

These birds are not in a quiet state lol

Hi Sumita,

Thank you for your great advice and sharing information about Caiques.

You are correct, especially at night they are very loud and mornings can be too but, also during the day too! I think these are defo the loudest parrot species that I have experienced!!!

Saying that, I do love them and I do not get a moment to get bored lol!

Thanks
Manny
