Hi @Sock - Glad you are here and glad to meet you. I'll be seeing my vet tomorrow and I'll ask him about her. She certainly has the pedigree and a recommendation from Dr. Lafeber is nothing to sneeze at.

I think there has to be a solution for your baby and you have my complete empathy. I've had a very ill bird for 21 years now and my wonderful Dr. Driggers has kept her alive.

Let me ask you something. Did those wounds bleed well when first made? Especially the one between her toes?

Poor thing.
Sock doesn't want to amputate, she feels so bad. I guess knowing EXACTLY what is happening will help. Is it the heart? Is it a weird infection? If it is a chronic condition that will make her life more comfortable and not guessing, I think amputation. Floyd had a partial wing amputation so he wouldn't live out his life in a collar, and it worked.

Thanks everyone!!
I want Molly to get better. I can only imagine how she feels watching Molly struggle everyday, and wanting to fix her, but no where to turn.

I was hoping that the local vet that does care about Molly, would consult with a specialist.
Can'[t post the video but watching Molly drag her leg is awful!!!
She lived at the vets in one of those Elizabethian Plastic Collars, while they do work, she still is suffering from what ails her and that would be miserable!

Amputation was a blessing for my Jasper. Her pain level dropped significantly and she became a happy bird again. Lets see if other possibilities exist. Even if she has to have an amputation (and that one toe looks like a high potential) it may just be a partial amputation.

Yeah, makes me highly suspicious of circulation if there was no bleeding.

Right now I have no indications that it might be Aspergillosis - unless she has had asper been cured, but the asper has damaged her circulatory system. Asper presents in so many ways that it is astounding.

If it's neuropathy and none of the neuropathy treatments are viable, then amputation is the only option. It's better to have no foot than a non-functional painful foot. But I agree it warrants another review because neuropathy in birds is a diagnosis of exclusion.
I think that is what my vet said too, it could be that.
Thank you!

Okay. One vet said “ it must be arthritis “ and the other vet said calcification at the joints

Oh and has anyone heard of Metacam not agreeing with a bird? What did you use as an alternative
