Hi there,
does anyone have any experience with your birds (budgie) having trouble flying after a doxy injection into the pectoral muscle?

Jimmy had an injection last friday which is about 48 hours ago now and he cannot fly anymore. he just flops to the ground. and his wing is a little bit saggy when hes immobile.

Im freaking out that this has hit a nerve or damaged his muscle or infection. he seems to be bright enough, eating etc. he weight has stayed around the same. he just cannot fly

i am so worried that it has done some permanent damage.

just to note: he has had a course of these injections before and has never had this reaction before. this is very abnormal.

any insight will be much apreciated.

The doxy injections can be very hard on birds. My BG bled and was very sore after a doxy injection. They can do damage as the medication is very thick.

I would bring him back in and have the vet look him over. I would also switch to oral meds.

It’s fairly common, but he should recover. See what your vet says. My two both had soreness and bruising but flew okay after a few hours.
