If any carpet cleaning company were to do the carpet, the boys would absolutely go to the vet. Our vet said it would be safe, too. But still. I'd rather do it myself, anyway.

It took me five years to remove all the carpet from this house after we moved in. I had severe asthma back then and had to decrease two dander and dust to be sure I didn't trigger my asthma. When we moved in every room but the kitchen and bathroom was carpeted in matted green shag carpeting I think had never been deep cleaned. My stepson and wife systematically removed the carpet, starting in my bedroom. We did clean the carpets with those rental Steelers when we moved in. Oh, the carp that poured out of that tank!

The house has no carpet anywhere now. Just throw rugs. But I know intimately about cleaning carpets. Have fun, Terri.

For the moment I have experimented with just water, as my F10 had not yet arrived. Sonja, I'll look for those soaps too, thanks.

Depending on the size of the water tank I would say 1 to 2 ounces should do it. If you have some stubborn stains make up a stronger mix and put in a spray bottle to pretreat the stains and for really stubborn stains add in some peroxide. Peroxide is a type of bleach so it could remove some color so you wouldn't want to put in a whole lot. :) Happy Cleaning!

I really dislike carpets and rugs. They get so dirty. Of course, my other half likes them. I would not have any carpeting if it was up to me. Maybe area rugs. I'll try that F10 Monday.
