Has anyone had any problems with birds chewing the rope off?
I have two home made atoms and Micah and Jillian are starting to tear the rope off after about 6 months.
I think I'll order a real one if there aren't any problems

My cockatoos chew up rope perches so fast..perches, boings.. round swings.. Im sure they'd do the same to Atoms ;) Which is why I'd make my own. Edit, but I have always wanted to buy a couple real, non home made atoms (I havent even made a home made atom yet!) and see how they compare.

If it will hold up to Jillians beak I would rather buy one....it took me a long time to wrap all that rope on the hoops

Yeah home made items may be cheaper, but boy it can take a while to make them!:hehe:

Lancelot plays nicely with the atom?
Yes :) She is pretty easy on rope (including her rope perches). Not sure if it would make any difference to her if it was out of sisal, because she will dismantle stuff with that (like that really cool giant knot).

I had a pair of Blue Front Amazons tear up an Atom out in the aviary that was made by Mother Pluckin'... have beak can destroy! Not all birds do of course I have one here in the house that is like 5 years old and it is in pretty good shape considering the amount of birds it has seen as it has weathered many babies that have been raised and introduced to it.

I have a pair of Green Wing Macaws tear up one of Mother Pluckin's large Orbit as well. Some birds are just more indepth avid chews that other birds might be. So depends on how aggressive your bird is towards the things he chews on.
