my neighbor told me that she has moths in her house because I feed the birds outside. I don't have any in my house, i didn't tell her that i have birds in my house, that really would have got her going.

Sounds like she need to clean up her pantry and toss out old flour, rice or anything they could be in 
When we had house mates we had some moths, which my housemates freaked out about
... guess what no housemates anymore ... never a moth again.. amazing how helpful it is to clean up after yourself and to put dry goods into moth proof containers!
