Probably pine boring/bark beetles or whatever they're called. The buggers eventually killed the beautiful Shore pine in our front yard. Branches kept dying back and by the time I figured it out it was too late and the property manager cut it down, disrupting 22 years of our feeding all the birds that used it. They usually attack weakened trees and destroy the bark so they don't get the nutrients and die back slowly.
I think if you catch it early enough and kill off the grubs you might save it but it's probably done for.

I was thinking i heard something about some kind of wasp so i looked it up

The Sirex woodwasp (Sirex noctilio) is an invasive species that is a significant threat to pine trees. It's native to Eurasia and North Africa, but has spread to other parts of the world, including parts of North America. This wasp is known for its ability to kill healthy pine trees, unlike native woodwasps which primarily attack dead or dying trees

It could be those too but I know here in Oregon it the bark beetle and they have killed a LOT of trees in the area. Once they find one infested they just cut it down. You usually can tell because parts of the branches needles will just turn red and the branch dies.
