I recently bought this from the pet shop. It's a wooden ball thing, with some millet inside. The cheeky duo love it! They love these kind of natural material things, especially anything with wood. Anybody seen or made anything similar? Just looking for ideas.

@Shezbug uses willow for bird sometimes.

We have loads of things like that in our local pet shops, mostly made for rodents, but could be used for birds too. I think even online places like northern parrots and scarletts have them.

By the way, Mabel is looking very pleased with her new mischief maker!

Yeah I notice at our pet shop there's a lot more stuff for rodents, especially wooden stuff!

This one was, yup. Some of their better platform perches are in the rodent section though!

I saw a cool idea the other day to get these willow ball type toys and put plain, unsalted, unbuttered popcorn kernels inside. Then, microwave! Now it's full of popcorn and they can have fun chewing it apart to get the treats inside.

You can even try sticking these on kabobs or chains, or putting crinkle paper in them. I love these toys, very versatile.

Tonnes of hidden gems in the rodent section!
I kitted out Adélies cage with mostly rat ramps, rodent house (remember that? ) and toys. Found those dried palm mat thingies in the rabbit isle. Small plastic balls with bells in from the cat isle (be careful with cat toys as some have catnip in).
Got the rosewood boredom buster cube from the rodent section too.
I´m sure there´s tonnes more.
Sometimes SS skewers are in the rabbit isle, and not in the bird isle.

Agreed about the rodents section! They do have a few interesting chewables

I give Preeno rattan balls but they're much smaller. I don't know how much he likes them though

He doesn't play with toys that often but he is soooo focused on destroying this Seriously it is almost bare now!

All I did was move it from one place to another in the cage and suddenly he is a bird on a mission! Must...free...millet!

Me and the birds usually end up napping at the same time, at around 2pm...Jeff was too focused on destruction so didn't even bother napping! Me and Mabel had other ideas

That's so adorable! Preeno used to calm down and nap too whenever he saw me lying down for one. But nope not anymore! He'll be having a whale of a time zooming around and talking to everything in sight!

I love flock nap time! One usually wakes me up with a "ok mum it's time to play with us" squeal though, which is good for preventing me from sleeping for too long!
