I saw pictures on line of the older Kings aluminum cages which are coming back in March, very similar set up to the Avian Adventure Mediana play top. They were very nice looking! I heard what @Mizzely said about how it is harder to clean the aluminum cages and on line reviews kinda say it is almost impossible to get dried stuff off. @Mizzely --thoughts on the keeping an aluminum cage clean?
It kinda brings me back to the Mediana. I really liked the looks of the Kings cage and wondering if I could paint some highlights on a white Mediana. It would make it blend better into my home. Just thinking like the front of the pans, maybe the side, top, and bottom edges. Not the whole cage and not the vertical and horizontal bars nor the feeder stations. If I do the top edges, that is where she scraps her beak...
Thoughts on safety, durability?
I found this link and have sent them some questions. Safely Painting A Bird Cage is Easier than You Think
I've looked at so many bird cages my head is spinning. Wish there were stainless steel cages in my price range, look easiest to clean and my house has lots of stainless steel already..., zero luck in even finding one used...
thank you

I personally don't trust "repainted" cages. If it's just a sleep cage or just a place they go for food (home base) I might risk it but if a bird has to spend time in that locked cage and spends a lot of that time on the bars I would not. That paint will wear off. It may be non toxic but I don't want my bird ingesting any kind of paint.

I agree with John @JLcribber about cage painting personally. It's just a risk I'm not willing to take, especially because of how much contact most parrots make with their cage bars through climbing, playing, etc.

I have a King's aluminum (flat top, 33x25) and I personally don't find it difficult to clean at all. I try to clean up any messes before they dry and get caked on (wipes make this very easy), and for any deeper cleaning needs I'll use a steam cleaner. I'm a big fan of the aluminum cages.
