Hi everyone,
Some of you might recognise my user name from quite a while back. I've had a few traumatic years with my flock hence why no posts however I have been lurking and liking posts.
I'm finally feeling brave enough to post about my current flock so I thought I would start by introducing my latest member - her name is Custard, she's about a year and a half old, hand reared and my first linnie. She arrived Saturday morning so she's in iso from the rest of the flock for now (and she'll be meeting my avian vet soon for a general health check) - she has been wonderful company while I work upstairs!
I'm hoping to move her into a bigger cage when she's more comfortable (although attempts were made by her previous owner in the past who said she didn't like the new bigger cages no matter how hard they tried). I may or may not have gone a bit over board buying healthy snacks for foraging and welcome home toys...!
She lets me give her head scritches when she's in the mood (which I wasn't expecting to happen so soon!). I have learned today that she is not open to being bribed back into her cage when it's bed time, she's an independent bird who doesn't need your goods thank you
(the second picture is her choosing to chew the millet stalk, rather than the 2 blobs of fresh millet I was offering*, because her millet stalk was 10000x better).
* I gave her a sprig of millet as it's her favourite while she settles in but I'm not going to be replacing it when it's gone - it'll be reserved as a special snack.
