Good day everyone,

I hope all of you have an excellent new year.

I have a DNA tested pair and they became a couple MalexFemale, they are bond to each other. They eat together, always one next to the other, Lately they are showing sign that they want to mate, during a normal day could be many times the male doing the typical noise and they both down in the cage, then is what a nonsense starts 1) the female gets to the position but when the male puts his foot she ran away. 2)other she is the one trying to climb on him. 3) Sometimes she takes a ball or the spring millets and rubs herself like a male mating.

Sometimes I notice the male get angry because she is not letting him when she runs even after showing that she is interested in the mating.

You’re definitely trying to get them to mate?

Even though they are physically sexually mature, they may just not have the hang of it yet. They are still quite young. I think time is really the biggest thing here.

They do sound like they are still learning what goes where and when.

Yes, they are learning I guess. Should I separate them for a while or just let them be.
Thank for your reply.

As long as they are being nice to each other (not bullying etc) then I would leave them together :)

To add to what Shawna said, I have a pair that took a while to get the hang of mating, I didn´t separate them, just monitored closely to be sure everyone was safe.

I will keep an eye on them… just in case. I guess this couple will take their time to learn . Thanks Zara
