She is the darling of the house for sure. She's more than 12 years old...I think she was hatched in September of 2013 if I remember correctly. We have lost her two sisters and all of her babies, but she's still going strong!
This was actually a bird cage that she found her way into and I was in the right place at the right time to get the picture. She's a free range inside chicken. Maybe she's lived as long as she has because she's eating very expensive bird food that the parrots throw on the floor!
That was Dagbert...he was a black frizzle and was so amazing! He ended up only living about six months because of a tumor. We tried to treat it but he passed at the UW when they were trying to get CT images. That was the day before Thanksgiving and my husband was a total mess. We went back to Chicago on Thanksgiving day to the same breeder and picked up Tildie and two of her sisters because Jon couldn't stand not having a chicken in the house...true story! LOL!

She is the last one of the older bunch. We brought home two more when her last friend passed. She is now a baby sitter and girlfriend to the new two!I miss my chickens! I couldn't remember how long lived chickens are. Matilda is soo sweet

AND they chase off snakes and eat ticks. I got them for mom's farm. Awesome things.....
They're cool looking birds. I've always want to sculpt one. There's no sneaking in or out the farm house when guineas are around!
Yes, she stays inside all the time. She is a Serama (one of the smallest breeds) and can't handle hot temps or cold temps. Keeping her in temps from 60 and 75 is the best temps for her breed. We've had her outside on occasion but she's living her best life as a house chicken!
