I have a male wbc that is 7 months old. We want to add a second wbc but are unsure if we should add a male or a female. Can anyone give us some proud and cons each way? Thank you.

I would say get another male unless you are trying to breed. Also there is a chance they wint get along. I wish you the best.

It seems like most people have male-male pairs.

My "male" turned out to be a female so I got a DNA male to go with her, I was told during hormone season they would fight if I had 2 girls.

A male female pair would be the natural choice but there is a chance that they might decide to breed at some point. Single pairs are less likely to breed then having multiple pairs.

A male/male pair can get a log just fine too.

There are no guarantees either way.

It is great that yours is still young, it makes it very likely they will get a long.

Also, the wonderful thing about caiques is that they don't tend to abandon their people in favor of another bird.

Male or female doesn't matter. Getting a pair to breed is a difficult 5 year project so no immediate worries on that score.

Btw a pair of same sex caiques will happily exhibit mating beheaviours
