Hello everyone!
I was curious if any of you have had a similar experience to this. My 1 year old IRN male is starting up this strange behavior where he scratches his food out of his food dish and builds a nest in it. It's only in the daytime and he does not sleep in it. He just sits in it for a few minutes, leaves and comes back. He's starting to get a faint pink/rose ring as he's yellow. I have a DNA test from his previous owner that says he's male.
Should I be supplying him with anything to help deter this behavior? I don't mind if he wants to play, but I don't want him obsessing over this "nest" either. He does not have another ringneck friend as he is very territorial with other birds, but he does have other parrots in another cage in the room that he ignores.
Is this normal? I have also been changing out his toys every few days so he's not bored, letting him fly around outside of the cage every day, and his cage is very large for one bird.
Thanks!
