Male eclectus "posturing" when target training

We've recently restarted target training with our 3yo male Eclectus. Things were going okay for the last 3 or 4 weeks, but now he is exhibiting some male "posturing" when I try to target train him. After 2 or 3 reps, instead of touching the stick he starts strutting up and down the stand. He may bob his head up and down. When he gets in this mode, I end the training session. I say "no treats for this behavior". As a result, our training sessions are getting fewer and shorter.

Any suggestions?

I wonder if this is the 'love' time for Ekkies right now.
That may be one reason.

Have you tried changing up your training?
Different tricks/commands?
Different places, maybe different target items?
Different rewards maybe?

Make it fun, and interesting.
If he's stressing I agree to keep the sessions short while he's in a volatile mood.
Perhaps just some play instead?
