Is it normal for the male cockatiel to sleep in the nest box.
He only seems to be sleeping in it on a night time. I never see her in it..
She went through a stage of being in and out all the time.
He doesn't bother with it during the day. However they both sit on top of it all the time.

I would get that nest box out of there unless you want to breed and have done your research. In females, it causes egg binding. My hairdresser’s cockatiel died that way, the egg gets stuck in the body. In males, they get hormonal and distant..it’s the best to get rid of it.

I've done plenty of research and I would like them to breed but I'm leaving it up to them to decide if they want to breed.
I don't think any amount of research will prepare me for the reality but we all have to start somewhere.

How old are your birds?
When did you put the nest box in the cage?
Are they mating ok?

Sometimes though, it does just take some time for birds to use the nestbox.

I will move this thread to the breeder forum.

The male is about 8 years and the female is 2 year now.
I uavnt actually seen them breed as they just kind of tolerate each other but they are getting closer x
