Macaw breeding

Hi guys,

I have a male blue and gold macaw (5 years old) and a female green winged (14 months) they appear to have bonded well. Both feeding eachother and preening each other. They still have little scraps if she gets a bit excited.
They are both bonded with me and this becomes a problem because they both get jealous (I'm sure thos behaviour will change in time though)

My question is, what age would a green wing macaw be ready to breed (obviously she is much too young) should I put in the divider during breeding season, she won't be ready but he obviously is ready.

Thanks

I wouldn't consider letting a greenwing breed until at least 6 or 7. I'm not sure a female would be fertile any younger than that. The males are fertile at a younger age but that doesn't mean they should breed. I would not leave them together when the male is hormonal. He may be too demanding about breeding, leading to aggression and injury.
