I was chatting on the phone with some lady who does parrot rescue in Ohio and in our conversation she said that she gives her birds something called LS 50 every six months. Does anyone know anything about this stuff and should it be used with parrots. I noticed farmers use it with their chickens.

LS50 is an extremely strong antibiotic used by farmers to treat for respiratory and intestinal illnesses. It must be prescribed by a Veterinarian. It has been used in cows and was found to travel through the milk glands. Some humans have suffered sickness for exposure to this drug through the milk.
I don't know why a breeder would automatically treat their birds with such a strong drug every six months, esp if no symptoms are present.
