I'm so sorry for your loss of Lovey.
They fly into our hearts, and leave feather dust on our souls... forever....

Thank you, everyone, for the wonderful messages and sympathy.
It is good to have so many people who know what it is like to love
a bird. Macaws seem magical, they are so bizarre and big!
Not that we don't find ourselves amazed by Keikoa (who is so intelligent!) and
our others~
I am sorry for those who have also lost birds. It is so heart-wrenching, as we knew it would
be, but good to read wonderful messages such as "land softly" or that Lovey is now with
other birds~ they are all flying free and with no pain.
And yes, she was loved, and I think we gave her everything she wanted (except the rainforest :)
and so she enriched our lives as we tried to heal hers.

Thank you so much!! You are all such a comfort

Thank you so much, everyone. It means so much to know that other bird lovers
understand the joy and the pain of having and losing these wonderful companions.

I wish they could fly free before they go over the Rainbow Bridge, but we do
the best we can to keep them safe and show them love.

My daughter lost her dog this week, and I wish I could comfort her the way you have
all comforted me. I got tears again, reading what you have all posted, and remembering
Lovey sitting on my knee while I watched concerts on my PC, having her shred paper and make
her favorite spot under my desk, hearing her thump, thump thump, coming down the hallway, so
funny with that long tail, and saying, "Hello!" in her lades' voice.
She always came out when my husband was in the kitchen she knew he would have FOOD!
She loved watermelon and begged for potato chips (he had to hide them) and peanut butter on
toast.....
And what fun it was to teach her to like baths from a spray bottle! While she threw water everywhere.
I think she liked scaring the cats~ their life is pretty boring now, the other birds don't chase them.:heart:

So sorry for your loss.

I lost my B&G Macaw (JaJaBinks) August 2020. She was a 2nd hand bird/rescue. I got her at age 2. Her previous owners abused & neglected her. She became an amazing companion. I really miss her. I have a new B&G Macaw, now 1 year & 10 months old. I got her at age 4 months. JaJaBinks & JaKhu may look the same, but are like night & day.

I'm so sorry for your loss. If we had more room and flexibility (we are both over 70 and my
joints are still not working right,m even after surgery!) I would love another macaw.
They are so sweet and gentle, except for the occasional hormonal day.
I still laugh when I think of the "Macaw Lunge", people just had to go see her under my desk,
even after I explained that she considered her territory to be all the way out into the hall!
I'm glad you have a new sweetie. I can always tell B&Gs by the face stripes. Lovey had 5 above,
my lucky number.

I am so, so sorry for your loss.
What a beautiful life you gave her. It is true that the massive hole they leave in our hearts will stay forever but also will the wonderful memories of their love, comical moments, demanding moments and the best companionship one could ever wish for.
I do hope that your daughter can find a forum as supportive as this one to help her with her loss.
My thoughts are with you and everyone who has lost their special friend x

Though I remind myself to pay attention to the date stamp... I still find myself intertwined with each and every posting... And no matter how long ago, it still rings with pain, lessened hopefully tho with the passing of time... :grouphug3:
