Name: Mango

Morph: Peach-faced lovebird

Age: 1 1/2 yrs (RIP)

Likes: Chewing cardboard, biting plants, chewing dirt (not eating, chewing), biting my feet, screaming, scratching painting, chewing paper, dogs (I repeatedly had to take him off the dogs I have no idea wtf he was thinking but he never got so much as sniffed at)

Dislikes: Food (was Not motivated by anything), rainbow bracelet (apparently terrifying), fingers and hands

Oddities: We’re pretty sure he was a boy since he never displayed any nesting behaviours, including gathering strips of paper (he preferred to just chew them) but he was pretty aggressive when we first got him. To get him out of the cage to clean it I had to wear some cloth gloves to protect my hands and he was separated from a sibling for aggressive behaviour (including injuries) and was probably traumatized. He was kept in what amounted to a glass box that children could reach in and tap at as they pleased, was absolutely terrified of hands as a result (pro tip; mittens! Or offering an elbow instead of a hand) but he grew out of this, from biting all the time to only a few times a day all the way to biting only once every few weeks!

Notes: His cage is being deep cleaned for it’s future occupant, who I haven’t decided a name for yet, but am a nerd, so probably something from Shakespeare

Given the age and living conditions, a female is equally as likely as male.

Do you know why they passed away? I'm sorry for your loss.

Morph: Peach-faced lovebird

Age: Four months

Likes: Preening people, flying in circles, MIRROR TIME, phone cases (for chewing), pencils (for perching/chewing), sleeping sideways

Dislikes: Being ignored or left behind, strawberries, his cage (little weirdo)

Oddities: He’s a baby so everything that comes with that, weird fascination with his reflection (to the point that mirrors have been hidden), likes sitting on my glasses/face even if they’re not being worn, has Big Feet

Yay! I get to do one! (@js71, I promise I did not steal your bird's name!! :sorry:)

Name: Mango
Age: about 1 year
Gender: Male (not DNA'd)
Species: Fischer's lovebird
Likes: Strings and long things (like paper strips, cardboard strips, and the frayed ends of Knotts to chew on), screaming, and eating seeds

dislikes: lettuce, colored wood (???), MILLET SPRAYS!?! (there's something wrong with my bird), and trying new things

( I know his picture is my profile pic, but I cannot find a picture on my computer, which is where I'm doing this, and if I do it on my phone, all this will be lost :( )

Name: Whiskey
Age: 6-7-ish (not quite sure because his previous bird buttlers didn't knew his hatchdate/date they've got them and passed away recently)
Gender: Male (not DNA'd)
Species: Peachfaced Lovebird
Likes: Playing with his bell, chewing on toys, swinging on toys, foraging, getting scritches, exploring and getting into places he isn't supposed to get into
Dislikes: Getting told 'no', wearing a collar (he barbers/mutilates his feathers due to Polyfolliculosis), red beets in his chop
Favorite music: Pokémon: 2BA Master (album), Queen, Metal/Rock/Harder music

Getting a good photo of Whiskey is a very hard thing to do as he won't ever sit still on photos :D

Seems theres some for some other species.... I thought maybe it would be nice to see how many lovebirds are here!

I'd love for people to share names, current age, when they were born if applicable, mutation, species, and gender! Maybe even something about their lovebird(s) as well!

First up!!

ONE

Munchlax
D.O.B.: November 12th 2010
Current Age: 1 year old 7 months
Gender: DNA'd Female
Species: Peach Faced Lovebird
Mutation: Single Dark Factor Single Violet Factor Seagreen Pied (yes she is genetically pied, she has yellow speckles in some flight feathers and this makes her a pied)

We call her Munch for short, my fiance named her. She was a fire breathing dragon from day one, but has mellowed out as she has gotten older. She is aggressive and tends to be a bit of a danger to the other birds. She is Mango's younger sister, same clutch.

TWO

Mango
D.O.B.: November 7th 2010
Current Age: 1 year 7 months
Gender: DNA'd Male
Species: Peach Faced Lovebird
Mutation: Single Dark Factor Seagreen Pied

He is our most timid and our smallest bird. He loves to snuggle with his ball and relax in his tent and sometimes run in his wheel. He is Munch's older brother from the same clutch.

What about your lovebirds? How many do we have here?
Name: Lily
Age: 1-2 years (she's a rescue)
Gender: Girl
Likes: Shredding, Apples, spinach, kisses, millet, chia seeds, Taylor Swift, rabbits
Dislikes: Hands, getting put back in her cage, most other fresh foods
Species/Mutation: Blue Mask Lovebird

DOB: not sure, told she was a baby when I got her but she didn’t have black beak and her appearance hasn’t change at all. Gotcha day is 01/29/2022 so I pretend she’s two.
Gender: unsure, was told girl
Likes: kisses, being lifted up and down, out of cage time, knocking over her water for fun, sitting on screens and ruining devices, begging for food like she doesn’t have 3 kinds in her cage at all times, steamy showers, her special sleep cage, YouTube videos of lovebirds chirping, biting grandma HARD, trying to pick fights, bells and other noise makers like Bobby pins used as bird sized drumsticks, the hallmark channel, her tree perch, dropping things for fun, going on walks outside in her backpack, naps, scritches and being held
Dislikes: grandma :(, when the dog gets attention, being in her cage, double sided tape, hands trying to touch her, when I’m out of sight, action scenes on tv, when food is not shared with her, large stick like objects, the vacuum, the vet, anything new especially toys
Mutation: not 100% sure because her beak is much more orange than other birds I see and she has white eye rings, but I think Peach faced lovebird. Would love other’s guesses.

Mutation is wild type.
Buy her species is a hybrid. This is why her beak is more orange and she has eye rings. She will be either RoseicollisxFischeri or RoseicollisxPersonatus.

I think these are good guesses! Both would help explain or dusty grayish cheeks

It is not a guess, they are a hybrid. And it does explain the grey on the cheeks. The mutation is wild type (often just called Green).
The only thing is that I can't tell which eyering species. Unless you have a photo of the parents? I could tell you.
Also, because your bird is a hybrid between a non-eyering species lovebird and an eyering lovebird, your bird will be infertile.
There are no certified records of any fertile RoseicollisxFischeri or RoseicollisxPersonatus hybrids at all.

To clarify, "wild type" means there is no mutation so the bird is just as the wild of their species. Obviously hybrids don't exist in the wild but this is the only way to describe it.

There have actually been numerous confirmed cases of wild agapornis hybrids, but all of them that I am aware of have been eye-ring x eye-ring. Well, there are some confirmed feral wild eye-ring x peach-faced hybrids, but I meant in there native range. @Monica may know if there have been any confirmed wild eye-ring x peach-faced hybrids.
