Hey all! Just wanted to ask for some advice on this. My Lovebird Helios has always been a very calm bird. I know hormones happen but I'm not sure if that is the cause of what's happening.
Recently, whenever I let her out (in the bird room) she absolutely refuses to step up and will not return to her cage. She bites extremely hard when I offer my finger up when it's time to go in her cage. She will actively play with me and perch on me the entire time, but then when it's time to go in will avoid me at all costs.
I've tried waiting it out, offering treats, and tricking her in (lowering my head or arm in while she's on it). She's pretty smart and already worked all of these 'tricks' out and will avoid those too now.
I can't leave her unattended in the room because of the larger birds, and I obviously can't sit there for hours on end until she decides she wants to go in.
I don't know why this behavior has started just recently, as she's never had any problems with her cage or going in.
Any advice?
