Lovebird cage ideas

I just don’t know. My almost 3 yo lovebird went through more cages then my 10 yo Meyers. All of the cages that I bought weren’t good enough. The bowls weren’t good enough, the bar spacing, the space…

Please show me some ideas…

Well I have a stack because I have multiple birds, so I have three cages on one set of wheels.

But I have also gone through my fair share of cages!

1cm bar spacing is ideal. Horizontal if you can get it.
I like a square shaped top over funny rounded or cut out corners, simply for putting perches and toys in, it's easier.
I look out for a good lock, those that turn, they 're sturdy.

If you just have one lovebird (or pair), get one of those large flight cages like the budgies folks have, there's a few different brands and options available.
Something like this;

For bowls, you can add your own SS bowls so you get the size you want.

Thank you. I also have a stack for the 3 bigger birds. Ideal I want a stack for the 2 smaller ones (lovebird and meyer) but I can't seem to find one over here in the Netherlands.
I had bought a 'I need to have a cage ASAP', cage.
That one was great size wise, but it had als bowls the one in the first pic. And I dislike those. If you turn them around, food and water goes everywhere. If you need to give them meds through the water, you can't really measure the water.

I know what you mean about add my own SS bowls, I tried doing that too. Plus the bowls are easy to clean. Love them. But there is one problem with that good idea ... I need to go in the cage to hang the food and water. And Taco is mean. She will 1000000% bite. She's fast too.

So then I was thinking of a cage with the same kind of bowls like the one in the 2nd picture (couldn't find a better picture.) I have a fear that the bird
1. Doesn't fit
2. that the bird can bump the bowl and it can escape.

I would love to have a big flight cage. But I don't have a space for it at the moment

(Taco does get out of the cage often)

These ladies are in the NL also, hopefully they can share some good links or places to go @Momo & Mido @TikiMyn

If your cage door opens like a real door, you can attach one in. I have one I put on the back of a door. I will get a picture.
When buying a cage, if you don't like the bowls in the cage as standard, then make sure there is a good front door so you can put your own on the back of the door ;)

The bowl thing on the right is a bath, and I found my birds won't bathe in those. They like a large bowl to bathe in.
The feeders, I have used in smaller cages, but they are pretty crap. They won't come loose, the spring top holds them in place. The cage is not a good one to be honest. It is ok for a travel cage or sleep cage but little more. Don't waste your money.

I would love to have a big flight cage. But I don't have a space for it at the moment
What space do you have available?
I used to have flight cages with no stands and I had them sitting on a piece of furniture made for a TV (I didn't have a TV in my living room)
Maybe you could have a rearrage of the room and make a little space.

If you need two cages, a stack could be the better option as it really does save on floor space. I wish I had bought my stack years ago.

Here we go,
I found you the perfect cage!

I have a cage like this;
Which, if you were going to get another bird in the future, something this could be a good option (you'd have to find one with better bar spacing for the lovebird)

Hi Nala,

If you don’t have the space why not a Montana New Madeira. Its the best quality there is at the moment.
I also have the Yaheetech breeder cage for birds that are nesty or special needs.
You can always DM me (I’m Dutch as well)
And in all honesty the best cages are the aluminium ones ofcours. Those you can stack and still have a lot of room for the birds

hope that helps!

You can build something out of aluminium frames and ss wire. It is a bit of a pain to do but you could build something to give your lovebird the appropriate size cage and maybe build it to fit on top of a cabinet of in a weird space you would otherwise have no use for?

That's funny. I also had two of those cages :D My birds loved the little porches.
The only reason I didn't suggest them was because you said you didn't have a lot of space available.
Glad you got some great cages sorted :bliss:

Thank you all for the ideas. I finally found the best solution. My lovebird is in one and Meyers in the other one. I can switch them around.
Oo I've never seen squat little cages like those, those look awesome! What brand are they?!

Mine doesn't have the little porch! I wish it did! Mine is the A&E brand. Wayfair also has a version :)

this just fits. I also loved the idea of the double on you saw. But the bars of that on aren’t horizontal
