Loofah Seeds?

I ordered some loofah toy pieces online. I've never seen loofah up close before. These have some black, oval things inside, that I assume are seeds. They are like watermelon seeds, only flat.
Are these safe for birds or should I remove them first?

I would think that the seeds would not be dangerous since the loofah is a type of cucumber - Luffa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I would add though, that it would also depend on how it was "treated" but since yours are toy pieces I would "assume" (always dangerous thing to do) that the seeds would be safe. You mention that they are black though and just to be safe, I'd remove them and pitch them just in case.

Maybe the best way to put it is this (and we apply it as a rule of thumb at home for food too) - if in doubt throw it out.

When I get luffa for toys, I always remove the seeds and rinse them with hot water, then let it air dry. Better safe than sorry.
