Hi!

Posting on behalf of a friend who's trying to look for a pure Isle of Pines Cuban Amazon for their current bird. They got their current bird through a somewhat shady 3rd party who we're trying to avoid altogether if we can find the original breeder! However we haven't been able to find who this is, and i figured that AA has all the answers!

RAL FL XX (XX is the bird's number). Blue (presumably aluminum) closed band!

Any ideas? Pic for tax!

Cuban Amazons are fairly rare and hard to come by in the pet trade.

Realistically, I think it's going to be very difficult to find another pure Isle of Pines, especially since it was never a widly recognized subspecies in the first place - most authorities put it together with the subspecies from Cuba. I'd shoot for a Cuban Amazon from Cuba (A. l. leucocephala), which has the most genetic similarity to Isle of Pines 'zons. Luckily, it's the most common non-hybrid variety in captivity!
