Live mealworms and Mario worms

Hi I'm just wondering if anyone could help me.. I have a lizard and often have live marioworms and mealworms as per his diet..
Are these safe to feed to my cocktiels or do they need to have dried mealworms?

Depends on the bird... My birds have always freaked out about the live worms :lol:
