Thank you to everyone for the kind words. It means a LOT to me. It has been a week now, and I still think about our time together from the moment I wake up and through the day. It both breaks my heart and somehow warms it every time I go in the finch toy section of the local pet store to buy things for my flock, because my thoughts always go to how much LittleBird would've loved this toy, or that snack. I hope the utter sadness eases soon, but I doubt the feeling of missing her ever will...and I don't want it to. It really is great to be able to talk to everyone here who can relate to this.

Thank you guys so much. This has been by far the hardest loss I've ever dealt with in my years of animal caretaking. It's been almost two weeks, and I still cry almost every day because I miss my baby. Sometimes it's because I'm so lucky to have been blessed by her presence and influence in my life, sometimes it's because I just wish she was still here. I don't know when the pain will subside, but the understanding and kindness here really help my thought processes about it. I really appreciate it. <3
