Last days with Bitsy

This is my last night with Bitsy. It's so surreal, I can't believe I have to say my final goodbye tomorrow. View attachment 417342 View attachment 417343
He has a had a couple of good days and even play with a toy for a bit. The nights and mornings seem the worst for him. I've been giving him extra pain meds then. I'm going to miss him so much

I've relayed a special message to someone who will meet Bitsy at the bridge and show him the sights. Good bye for now Bitsy till we all meet in that place. Strength and courage from me and Major. Remember that this hurts us much more than it hurts them. Stay with him and look him right in the eyes. It's important to them.

I'm so extremely sorry. I lost my sweet baby to renal failure last year as well, and found myself reliving that experience following your Bitzy. It's one of the most difficult decisions we make out of love for our babies.
You did what was best for him, and he knows that. Sending you a loving hug.

I know that the days will be hard for you and your family. Bitsy isn't in pain, he is running over bridge like he was puppy. I let Suffa our Great Pyrenees, Bandit the border collie and my horse know to be waiting at the other side. Crazy Mary loved dog biscuits and she'll know where all the hiding places are. Bye Bitsy see you on the other side.

We never forget them. Somewhere in this house I believe a favorite blanket remains. I think I finally gave up some of his toys (or did I?) but I couldn't let loose of the blanket. I could still smell a whiff from time to time of his fur.

I've seen mine in my dreams a few times.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's always so hard when you lose a beloved pet. But you did the right thing, and I'm sure he's happily running around, pain free over the rainbow bridge now.

It is so very hard when our heart animal and birds have to leave us. Bitzy went peacefully and is now free from pain. She will be looking down on you with love and thanks for the wonderful life that you gave her.

I know I have come upon this thread pretty late. I just want to say how truly sorry I am. I remember the first time I went through this...the deciding ahead of time and actually scheduling the time of passing. It was with my dog, Scotty. He was 16. I wrote a poem for him. I won't burden everyone with the whole thing, but here's the last verse:

"I love you so much,
I miss your dear face.
You are my best boy,
No other dog can replace.
The future may bring,
Many dogs I'll call mine.
But you're the one who will live
In my heart for all time."

And he has...along with Last Chance A.C. (Another Chance), Diggity Dog... and a myriad of other companion creatures!
