I hope he knew how much he was loved and how much I wanted for him to have a comfortable, safe home! :sad2:

Yes, I'm pretty much a mess....

Sometimes all we can do is make their last days here as wonderful as possible and you made his very wonderful.

I'm sorry you lost him, but he is flying high and perfect now.

When I first gently picked him up, his body seemed to relax a bit in the warmth of my cupped hands. I told him how much I loved him and was going to try to get him help.

Aw, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, it feels like losing a family member or a friend. He knew you loved him so much. :sadhug2: :sorrow:

I have had to take Kuiper to a university veterinary diagnostic lab for the necropsy. My vet is taking his one and only annual vacation this week, or he would have done it for me. I hope for the sake of the rest of my birds that it was nothing toxic. :( Poor little mite.

I have just received the preliminary necropsy results. The lab is still performing tests for Avian Influenza (PCR), fecal parasitology/entomology, and Histophathology. There was nothing about his morphology that was out of the ordinary except that it appeared he had bled a bit into his intestines. Interestingly, his poops were normal except perhaps a bit watery--but he did eat the chop pretty well. I do not have the education or background to begin to understand what this combination of results might mean. I hope my vet can explain it all next week once I receive the final report and he returns from vacation.
