I woke up this morning to see Kuiper on the bottom of the cage with his head to one side and his legs toward his tail and feet clenched. He was still breathing, so I picked him up gently and prepared a hospital cage for him to take to the E vet. He passed while I was preparing the hot water bottle for the cage

I made sure to put his tiny body back in the cage so Jelly and Juju could see him and try to understand. Juju flew down and tried to talk to him and gently bumped Kuiper with his beak. He then flew back up to a perch and started singing. Jelly came over to Juju to comfort him (or at least that's how I'm interpreting his behavior). Jelly did not fly down to see him. He was always the more cautious of the two.

Oh no! Who knows how long he was scared and alone outside before he was brought to the shelter, but at least his final months were filled with love and friends and delicious chop. Thank you for giving him the best rest of his life he could have possibly had.

Thank you everyone! It’s so hard because he was such a funny, fierce little guy in spite of his blindness. I had such plans to make a super safe area for him to fly I’m really kind of a wreck this morning.

Ive been following your posts since you've been visiting the rescues so I been so optimistic for you and your 2 boys you brought home.

Must have been hard for him outside almost blind & lost.
Its a miracle he survived. Maybe he had an angel watching over him & now he watches over you,
So sad but least you took him from the shelter & gave him a loving comfortable home to live out his last days.
