Lots of good information regarding cancer and ketogenic diets.

Visionary pet now has a dry food. Plenty of food options for dogs with cancer. They make a raw, freeze dried diet. There are groups I have followed online of making your own raw diets too.

Just throwing this out there, now a dry formulation exists.

I would say always talk to your vet but there is no research proving these diets benefit dogs with cancer and also grain free long term can cause cadiomyopathy. These diets are extreme and not nutrionally sound. Fish oil is a great supplement and there are other supplements that benefit dogs in general but specifically dogs with cancer. Raw is super dangerous it can cause serious bacterial infections that could be fatal to a dog with a lower immune response due to cancer. Essentially there is no need to change a dogs diet if its maintaining weight and if you have to change or add Id advise against any grain free option.

I am aware of the DCM controversy regarding grain free foods. Ketogenic diets are in some cases good for those with cancer. Cancer gets it's fuel through sugars from carbs.

It may not cure cancer, but it can help to slow the progression of some tumors.

Look up Keto Pet and you will see info of the sanctuary that led up to the creation of the Valiant/visionary pet foods creation.

FYI

I have been doing extensive reading on cancer, chemo, radiation and diet for dogs.

I have ordered this food. The dry, and the frozen beef patties.

I will be going keto with my boy prior to us getting into the Vet School. I also will be offering a veggie based food by Dr. Harvey's and adding the beef patties and my own home cooked proteins with added oils more then likely krill oil.

We can only try to stop fueling these cancer cells!
