I have never seen anything like this. We have a vet appointment on the 10th. Kinda far out but I started a new job and the new boss encouraged me to use Friday focus time since I’m building my vacation days up. She is eating normally and all the other things.

Zia is also going back for plucking. Something is wrong but she’s been in twice now. :( She is likely a very older bird now. Adopted in 2011 with unknown age. She has always picked a spot on her chest every now and then but she pulled her back, chest, legs. And her feathers are not coming back as quickly. Maui had plucked her head months ago and those still didn't fill in.

I got her really wet just now to see if water weight would fix them but I can feel where she pinched them which made them kink.

My baby macaws did that, and I would literally bend them back to get them to sit right. Of course, for your sweetie, it's going to continue until you find the cause. Is this a new bird or a new behavior? Medical, hormonal, or behavioral... ???? I think that will be a process.

Older girl and the soak worked! I came in for dinner and she has them all straightened. Fingers crossed. This was a new behavior. Hopefully she’ll leave them straight since she wasn’t too happy with all the kinks.

She was just trying out the curly girl method, and here you are cramping up her style.

She ended up shredding her wings later. She has arthritis and kidney trouble. She is 18 this year. Right now I have to hand feed her as she isn’t eating. Dr. Orosz said that when the kidneys act up, they get nauseous.

Oh no. I'm so sorry. I'm assuming he gave her meds? Rosie is on gabapentin.

Not sure what happened as I thought it was a flare from her avian borna virus like 2019. But when she still wasn’t eating, Susan said she needed to do a chem panel. I know they are just aging out but Oiy.

And my poor Zia has a severe yeast infection the feather follicles. Two months of yeast meds now which I think are finally working but I don’t know that the feathers can be saved. Wish we would have done this sooner. She is also on halidol to stop the plucking but barely grooming the feathers and they fall out.
